Yeti Microphone Review

I’ve just created a quick video review of the Yeti USB Microphone made by “Blue Microphones”.

I had previously been using my built-in mic on my iMac for any videos, screencasts, or anything else I was doing, but wasn’t too happy with the audio quality. Although it wasn’t horrible sounding you can really notice the difference between a built-in microphone and using a quality mic.

I searched a few reviews on Amazon before deciding to go with the Yeti Microphone for about $150.

The video review isn’t something special and is something I just made up on the go. I really just wanted to show the difference in audio quality between the iMac and the Yeti Microphone. At the very end you’ll get a good feel for the difference as I switch back and forth between the two microphones.

My favorite thing about the Yeti besides the audio quality is that it sits on your computer desk similar to a microphone you’d see in a recording room for the radio or whatever. It isn’t a headset microphone, which I’ve used before and wasn’t too happy with and can be annoying having on your head (especially if you’re doing video while recording the audio – that looks awful).

There are also a number of different settings for the Yeti Microphone that allow you to adjust the mic to fit whatever you’re doing. If you’re interviewing someone live you can put the microphone between you and have it set on a special setting that will recognize that and produce the best audio.
